In Memory of George

—

When I was asked to share my thoughts about George, I wasn’t sure where to start. I knew most people would share what a wonderful person he was, how he never met a stranger, how charismatic he was, or maybe how he served more smiles than he did pizza. And while all of those things are true, to me, he was so much more.

There’s a glimpse you catch when watching a morning sunrise—as the light begins streaming through the darkness and the colors of a new day start shining through. Bright, vibrant colors reminding us what a beautiful day is ahead.

Those colors will always remind me of George.

He was more than the Pronto Pizza Guy. He was a beautifully colored soul who shined brighter than most.

He wasn’t just the pizza guy to me. He was my friend who listened. He was my Taco Tuesday partner, my sounding board, and someone who was deeply passionate about his family and friends.

We shared our life adventures, belly-shaking laughter, our highs and our lows, and so much more…

I’m not sure George ever truly realized how much he impacted my life through his kindness and friendship—a friendship that ran much deeper than pizza or tacos.

There’s a place in my heart that will never forget my fabulous friend, and a piece of my heart will think of him every time I see a beautiful sunrise.

God must have needed George’s smiles and laughter—not to mention some damn good pizza—more than we did.

Love you to infinity and beyond, George. ❤️
